I am tired of waiting and cannot use this horrible piece of software - I am trying out Topaz Studio 2 to see if it is a viable alternative to the software Adobe seems to ignore.
In the event anyone else with this apparently unfixable problem (2021.22.1.1) has tried an alternative application and found it suitable as a replacement, please post for the rest of us to check out - Thanks!

This has never happened to me. Try resetting your preferences by going to Preferences > General > Reset Preferences on Quit after backing up any customization. It sounds as if something has gotten corrupt.

Been there done that.
Ver 2021.21.2 works just fine (I had to go back to that to find a stable Photoshop).
Adobe just needs to fix it!
I am no longer asking for endless guesses on how to fix this broken software.
I havbe asked about alternative apps like Topaz and what others have tried and found as a PS replacement.
Please stop offering half baked 'maybe this will work' suggections. This problem won't be resolved until Adobe decides to fix it.
Thank you.

You still haven't told us which OS you use... some people find MS Paint is all they require.
Without knowing more it's impossible to offer more than generic recommendations.
For that, a Google search will yield more options.

Hi
A lot really depends on what you use Photoshop for, there are plenty of alternatives out there both paid for and free but whether they suit your needs is impossible to say

Regardless of your problem with THIS version of PS (there's always some problem with any version, I've found), you should look at the software offered by On One also. I have used it in the past though presently I am using only Topaz Labs' software (for its creative abilities!). However, this is after I use Lightroom and then Photoshop (though usually not with the latest release 😉 ).
(I have no connection to any company listed above, just I have used/use them as a customer.)
