Photoshop CC 2020 Unusable

Hi,

I have the most recent update of Photoshop CC 2020 running on macOS Catalina on 2018 Macbook Pro 13 inch with touch bar. It has always run this version of Photoshop with ease. One day I closed one of my projects and then came back the next day to edit it and it was unusable. Here is what I've tried:

- Resetting the settings of Photoshop CC 2020 - No change

- Downgrading to Photoshop CC 2019 - No change - Still as laggy as 2020.

Kind Regards,

Jake

What Jane is saying is that this is apparently a counterfeit copy:

"License Type: Unknown Serial number: XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX"

Hello, if it crashes, did you send the crash report to Adobe?

I recommend as well to open a thread on https://feedback.photoshop.com and post the crash report as one of the answers of your thread, explaining which action you did before it crashed, the file you worked on, if it was local, etc.

Here, you are adressing other users, while the feedback forum is often visited by the Ps Staff...

"I have the most recent update of Photoshop CC 2020 running on macOS Catalina on 2018 Macbook Pro 13 inch with touch bar. It has always run this version of Photoshop with ease."

Please confirm your exact versions of Photoshop CC 2020 and Catalina from the Application menu > About for each. You say that you have always run this version of Photoshop with ease on your 2018 MacBook Pro, but neither of these applications were out in 2018, and both have had updates since they were released, so we need the exact versions. It might be useful if you go to Help > System Info in Photoshop, copy that information, and paste it in here.

It would be useful if you go to Help > System Info in Photoshop, copy that information, and paste it in here.

What do you mean by »projects«? Which file format?

Can you provide one of the files?

Could you have misnamed the files and they are actually another layer-capable format (tif or psb)?

By resetting settings do you mean you reset your Photoshop Preferences? If not try  resetting your user ID Photoshop Preferences.

When you say "it was unusable", can you clarify that? What happens and what error message do you get?

It was so laggy and I could not edit text, it would probably take about 1 minute for the changes to take effect.
