Photoshop CC won't start

Hello

I just installed Photoshop CC, along with other CC software on Mac OS X 10.8.5. All the other software is working greate, but Photoshop refuses to start and give me an error that says that the program will not initialize due to a program error (translated from the french message: "impossible d'initialiser photoshop en raison d'une erreur du programme")

I uninstalled Photoshop, remove an old aftereffect CS3 that was left (to be sure) and reinstalled Photoshop, but still the same message.

I never installed Photoshop on this computer before, so I didn't do something wrong with its preferences.

Any idea?

Correct answer Chris Cox

I downloaded onyx and deleted colorsync cache and rebooted. This didn't change anything. I also tried clearing the cache without rebooting.

I created a new profile, but it didn't help.

OK, now I'm really confused.  The only things that feed into that code are your preferences, ColorSync, and your display profiles.  One of them has to be corrupt to cause that error.

OK, one more location to check: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Color/Settings/...

These are the default/preset color settings files.   You're probably using "EU General Purpose Defaults.csf".

Change the directory name in the Finder to start with ~ (so it becomes ~Settings), then launch Photoshop. (warning, don't do that from the command line, because ~ is a special character in the command shell)

If that solves it, then the default color settings were corrupt.

But if it doesn't solve it, I'm out of ideas, and will need to get someone else to help troubleshoot your system (probably getting a disk image so we can debug the app and see how it's failing).

Try doing this and seeing if it works for you.

Win:

  • Choose Start > Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
  • Select Adobe Photoshop CC from the list and click Uninstall.
  • Click Uninstall
  • Allow the uninstaller to complete then click Close

Mac:

  • Navigate to your /Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installer folder
  • Double click on the Uninstall Adobe Photoshop CC uninstaller alias
  • Click Uninstall
  • Allow the uninstaller to complete then click Close

After Uninstall is complete, quit the Creative cloud App and re-launch it."

Photoshop should now be available for download/install.

Not sure if it will work, but figure its worth a try.

HI,

This happens on opening some file or just on stand alone launch of PS?
