Question

Photoshop crashes after undo

This has been going on for about three months now. As I use Photoshop for my professional business it is extremely frustrating when I am working on a client's project and the program crashes on me. I have no idea when this came about but when I'm working and happened to make a mistake on a stroke, pressing Ctrl z causes the whole program to crash 60% of the time. I have updated the program I deleted the program everything but no dice. I've been using Photoshop since Photoshop 7 but now I'm considering looking elsewhere to actually finish client work. Does anyone have a fix or is going through the same ordeal.

I am also having these problems for the first time this past week. Not every time, but I will be in the middle of work, and I will use an undo command and it freezes up my Photoshop.  Doing a forced shutdown via my Task Manager is the only way to escape the freeze. When I restart PS, it will sometimes recover some of my work, but it is a serious time suck. I've read that there is a bug in PS that the latest version fixes, so I am seeing if that helps. Another guy online offers a $5 software fix that supposedly helps Microsoft 10 communicate better with PS. I'd rather figure it out on my own...

I have not had this happen. Have you tried anything so far, such as resetting preferences?

If this suddenly start happening when you made no changes to your system or Photoshop. Try resetting your user ID Photoshop preferences perhaps they have been damaged and are causing the Photoshop crashes.   Are there any crash reports you can post? They may shed some light on the problem. Updating PS or re-installing Photoshop does not fix corrupted preferences.

thank you for the response. I've reset my preferences many times but it only temporarily fixes it. I also use a tablet which i read may cause some problems as well. going to update everything and reset one last time and see if there are any improvements.

    Thanks

If resetting Preferences fixes the problem once the problems start happening.  It sound like something is corrupting your preferences. Are you using any Third Party Photoshop plug-ins or script or actions that may be playing with your Photoshop Preferences?  I use a Wacom Intuos Pro Tablet and do not have problems with my Photoshop preferences normally.  My Photoshop preferences may become corrupted once or twice a year if at all.
