Photoshop crashes when saving for web and devices

When hitting saving for web and devices, Photoshop starts to render images but before it's done, it crashes. I get an error-popup with no text and the screen where normally the animation is shown is red. Then Windows comes with a crash report and I can only quit Photoshop.

I have an animation of over 150 frames, but just some black and white lines, no color.

I'm using Photoshop CS 5.5 on Win7.

I tried deleting the preferences in AppData/Roaming etc, but no result, still crashes.

My Photoshop is also updated to the latest version.

Help?

Correct answer sulxs

I tried this and it worked:

go to ~/Library/Preferences (that's on mac)

and locate the Save for Web Pref and delete it (you may find it inside the adobe file)

i can't believe it worked, hope it helps you too!

I know this is an old post but it is still applicable today.

I was experiencing this on a PC. File was found at the below location. Obviously, anyone else searching for this on their computer will have a differently named directory for the user and possibly for the photoshop version directories (ie, your user directory will likely be the name you log into the ccomputer as and if you are using Adobe Photoshop CC 2018 then that directory will be names Adobe Photoshop CC 2018 instead of Adobe Photoshop CC 2019)

Try changing the 'Matte' option to 'none' in the Save for Web dialog box. It worked for me.

I have this situation with my Adobe Photoshop 20141204.r.310 x64

Photoshop closes and no one report error is generated in my screen.

Is there a way to get the log error?

Thanks,

In the save for web window what options have you selected for meta data export? Try using the option of none and see if that makes a difference. I had the same error but it was only on 2 files so it might not be the same cause as yours, however in my case it was definately corrupt meta data in several images that cuased the error. CS5 on Lion.

The problem is that I can't even select options, because it crashes beforehand. Photoshop is rendering the images and then it crashes...

@Sudarshan Thiagarajan

I don't think that that would be the problem since it has worked before and I didn't install/uninstall anything... but I will try the Cleaner tool, thanks!

Can you post a Crash Report for Photoshop? Or, can you at the least post the crash report that Windows gives you?

Where can I find a Photoshop Crash Report?

From what I can see it looks like your Save for Web plug-in (Photoshop default) is malfunctioning.

I cannot conclude that this is it without seeing your crash report. Your crash report should be located in one if the 'CrashReporter' folders within your Application Data folders - not sure which one as I'm on a Mac.

For starters, can you try re-installing Photoshop to see if that fixes this issue?
