Question

Photoshop crashing when editing text, but only since installing Sierra

Photoshop has started crashing for me and I'm pretty sure it's been since I installed Sierra (about a week ago?). It's happened twice today, and both times I've noted that it's happening when I go to edit paragraph text on my document. It won't be the first time I do it though, I will be happily working away for a good while, editing similar text paragraphs with no problem, until one time is too much and the document crashes. The toolbars on the left of my screen then disappear and photoshop seems unresponsive and I have to force quit. It's been happening on a daily basis now for about a week, and I installed the new version of Photoshop this morning, so that hasn't fixed it either.

Since I'd figured out it was happening on a type tool, I thought it could be a corrupt font so I went through my FontBook and got rid of any questionable ones. I've also run this tool which I found on an Adobe help page - https://helpx.adobe.com/content/dam/kb/en/843/cpsid_84363/attachments/FontTest_readme.pdf - which found no errors, so maybe it's not a font problem?

Can anyone help me figure it out? I just looked at my PSErrorLog.txt as well directly after the last crash happened (around 12.20pm) and the last error is about the PSNetworkServices but only at 11.55am.

Any help would be really appreciated because I'm working on quite a big project right now and it's really not helping

Thanks,

Daisy

I'm also having this issue.

I've had it with CC 2015.5 and now 2017. What font manager are you using? Yesterday I started to use FontExplorer instead of Suitcase Fusion 6 and I've yet to have it happen again.

EDIT: Scratch that, it's just happened again. :-(

Hi Daisy,,

Which version of Photoshop are you using?

Did you also tried other suggestions mentioned in the article Troubleshoot fonts issues in Adobe Photoshop CC, 2015, 2014, CS6, CS5

Hey Akash,

I just updated to the new Photoshop (2017) this morning before I started working, so the error's been happening with this version and the previous one. I've done solutions 1 - 7 now. I haven't done number 8 because I really don't have the time to right now.
