I downloaded it from the Adobe site because I had changed computers and my disc no longer worked. The program works fine until I want to download a PSD design file from printify to make a mockup of my design. Now it says I have to re-activate my photoshop, but there is no way to do this. Can anyone help?
CS2 is dead. Dead, dead, dead. You need to upgrade or switch programs.

You should be able to find the link to the psd if you look in your Browser History.

Printify lets me make the mockup on their site and publish it to my Etsy
site--so I'm not having issues with it any more as long as I use Printify.

Alternatively, use the online Photoshop alternative to open the PSD file(s): Photopea
And work in that for now. It is free, and incredibly compatible with PSD files.

Unfortunately adobe forums do not accept email attachments so we are unable to see your screenshots.
You need to use an actual internet browser on your computer, sign in to the forum and use the Insert Image button to post your screenshots.

No. CS2 from 2005 is officially dead. The activation servers were taken offline many years ago and Adobe discontinued the activation-free version in May 2019. So your only option is to move to modern software which is probably a good thing given how out of date CS2 had become.
An annual Photography plan -- 20GB storage + latest versions of PS, LR classic & LR CC costs only $120/year..

I know I can pay every year to keep an updated version of photoshop but I
think that's a rip off considering I paid $695 when I first bought it. I
don't mind paying for updates and then opting out of continuing to pay for
them, but totally throwing out the old system of owning the program is
makes me mad.

There is a Photoshop Photography plan that is only $9.99/mo.
Seems reasonable if you are expecting to continue using Photoshop on newer operating systems or hardware.

The shelf-life for most software is 3-5 years. After that, you're on your own. I don't care how much you paid in 2005. The software built then was never intended to work forever. You got your money's worth. Be happy. Now move forward with new software that's compatible with new computers and file types.

Your choice, but since the original CS2 CANNOT BE ACTIVATED and some say Adobe will not provide a replacement any longer you may be out of luck.
