I downloaded it from the Adobe site because I had changed computers and my disc no longer worked. The program works fine until I want to download a PSD design file from printify to make a mockup of my design. Now it says I have to re-activate my photoshop, but there is no way to do this. Can anyone help?

CS2 is dead. Dead, dead, dead. You need to upgrade or switch programs.

Be aware that with newer computers, running CS2 is going to be a stroke of luck at best.
The activation servers have been taken offline a while ago.

It's likely because there are features used that your PS2 doesn't have.

Can you post a screenshot of the "activation screen" your getting?

No. Windows 10 bypasses photoshop when I do a screenshot because the
screenshot is attached to the Chrome browser. When I saved the psd file to
my computer and try to open it, it doesn't ask me to reactivate but says
that the file isn't compatible with my version of photoshop.

Since I had CS2 on my old computer I had to download CS2 from Adobe for the
new computer I bought. The program works--but if people send me psd files
that are made on a newer version, they don't work quite well. I tried to
download a psd file from a website but that's when I got the message that I
had to reactivate photoshop.

It happens when you start photoshop cs2 as well as when opening any file?
Having issues with files made by newer photoshop versions is to be expected since there are newer
features that cs2 doesn't quite know how to interpret.

You can no longer activate CS2. There was a version used with a replacement serial number that didn't require activation but I don't believe that can be used anymore either. Your version WILL NOT WORK period. Finito.
Talk to Adobe Customer Care about your options, but AFAIK all you can do is upgrade.

For every problem you find using CS2, there are another 10 or so that you won't see until you try to print. If someone sent me a CS2 psd to use, I'd ask them to re-save it as a Tiff or PDF instead so I can open it in Acrobat and res-save into a format version from after the Iron Age.

If it's a tiff can I create a mockup from it? The reason I downloaded the psd file is I can create a mockup from it with my apparel design.

I can't. Windows 10 doesn't have that option unless you are in a browser
and photoshop isn't in a browser. It's a stand-alone program.

When you see the screen in question just press the Windows key + Print Screen key and the screenshot will
be in the Screenshots folder in your Pictures folder.
Then here on the forum use the Insert Image button to post the screenshot here in your forum post.
You need to use an actual internet browser like Microsoft Edge, Firefox, Chrome, etc.

I can't find the site where I downloaded the psd file. But these are the
two error messages I get when I open the file as a saved file. If I click
on anything I get the second message that it's not compatible.

In my experience, CS4 was the last version that would open a newer CC .psd document without any road-blocking issues.
Even with Maximize Compatibility on when saved, I had clients that could not open CC .psd with CS2 or 3.

I can use CS2 with all other files including vectors. And when I create
layers they are psd files, but I can't open a newer type of psd file if
it's a mockup type.
