Hi
I'm having trouble installing photoshop cs2 on a 2012 MacBook Pro with high Sierra 10.13.1 from a disk.
After around 15 seconds of the actually install (after accepting terms etc) it stops and shows a screen saying "Installation failed" Encountered an error etc. No more useful info.
Searched so far suggests a corrupt disk but seller is sure it installed on his, so I am looking to find another cause and solution.
Any suggestions appreciated, but I'm not that good with Macs so not too technical 🙂
Thanks
Kieron

Give up. If you were to be able to install it, which would be extraordinary given how old it is, you wouldn't be able to activate it. You might run a few days as a trial, then that's it.
New systems? Budget for new apps! It's part of the Joy Of Mac.

Hi
Even if you get CS2 to install you will not be able to activate it as activation servers have been shutdown

By the way, CS2 was written for Mac OS 10.3, and ran, just about, up to Mac OS 10.7. After that Apple changed Macs so old software didn't work (just as they are about to do all over again).
So, obsolete junk since Mac OS 10.8 (released 7 years ago). No, you can't run mac OS 10.7 on your old Macbook either. This was not a good purchase.

The main reason photoshop cs2 will not run on your mac is cs2 needs a PowerPC processor and your mac uses an Intel processor.
In early 2006 the first Intel processor macs were released and photoshop cs3 with Intel processor support was made available in 2007.
Early Intel macs 10.4, 10.5 and 10.6 had Rosetta to allow some PowerPC software to work to ease the transition to Intel, however by 10.7 Rosetta was removed and macs were Intel software only.

Hope you can get a refund on your purchase.
As what to do next if you really want photoshop is to subscribe to the creative cloud photography plan for around $10 a month.
It's almost impossible at this point to find any older photoshop software especially cs4, cs5, cs6 that is the real deal and not a pirated copy.

Thanks for the info everyone.
A month subscription isn't an option sadly plus its for occasional use.
If I could find a real copy, would CS3, CS4, CS5 or CS6 be suitable for my system?
Above link info on CS6
I wonder if it accepts beyond v10.9? - was this written when v10.9 was the latest?

My advice is don't bother unless your mom, dad, brother, sister or best friend is the one selling it cause it's almost guaranteed you'll end up with a pirated copy that won't work in the long run and what's worse it could be full of malware. There have been probably hundreds of posts here on these forums throughout the years about users buying used photoshop only to find it's fake.
If you do find one you think is legit then the seller needs to transfer the license using this form.
Transfer an Adobe product license
If you can't afford or don't want to spend $10 a month for photoshop cc, then an alternative is photoshop elements.
