Hello to all:  This problem is a new one to me.  I am running Photoshop CS3 on Windows Vista.  I can print any other common format(JPEG, TIFF, PSD, etc.) on my Epson Artisan 1430 except bitmaps.  As soon as I hit print with a bitmap , Photoshop crashes.  I have installed the latest drivers with no differences.  Could sure use some GURU advice/suggestions.  Tom

Can you successfully print bitmaps from other apps, like Windows Paint?

Resetting the preferemces didn't help.  The only solution I found was to purchase and install CS6.  Thank you all for the suggestions.

I haven' used Vista in a dog's age,  on Win10 it's called Windows Event Viewer.  The Windows crash logs should tell you what's causing Photoshop to crash.

Thank you.  I'm not a real techie.  Where can I find the crash log?  What do I do with what I find there?  I have Windows 10 on a different hard drive but since installing Photoshop CS3 on there is no longer an option I use the Vista.

You more than likely have some type of computer hardware problem. RAM, Hard Drive, Overheating, something.

If any piece of software worked fine yesterday and does not work today then it is caused by some hardware fault that has corrupted something in the program or the OS.

As stated above Do NOT try to Reinstall the program as It can No Longer be activated. Adobe has taken down all the activation servers for CS3 and before.

So you will need to find out which piece hardware has cause this malfunction, Replace it, and then Restore a properly working full backup, hopefully a Drive Image, of the system to correct the problem.

One other tip: don't try to fix any issues with CS3 by reinstalling it. YOU WILL BE LEFT WITH NOTHING because it can no longer be activated, not for anyone.

Is your photoshop cs3 updated to 10.0.1?

You can check by going to Help>System Info and reading the top line for the photoshop version.

Another thing to try is resetting the photoshop cs3 preferences by holding down the Shift+Ctrl+Alt keys just after starting launch of cs3. (you have to be quick about pressing the keys or you won't get the below dialog)

Keep holding the keys down until you get a dialog asking if you want to Delete the Adobe Photoshop Settings File

    Press Yes

Looks like my version is 10.0..  I have already reset the preferences to no avail.  I was aware of the abandonment by Adobe of CS3 because I tried to install it on a different hard drive with a different operating system to see if that would help and got the bad news.  I can't figuren out why only bitmaps.  Do you think there might be a corrupted dll file involved?  I have had no hardware problems I am aware of and no problem with any other programs.  I have had a couple of power outages and found out my battery backup battery was expired.
