Seemed to have lost the shaded area (outside the select part) when cropping an image – probably hit a button. How do I reset the tool to bring this useful indicator, please?

    Hi Keith,

Yes, it has a bearing! It means you are right-clicking in the Tools panel, not the options bar. The options bar is the long bar usually across the top of your screen. The icon on the far left shows your current tool, and you can change the options for how the tool behaves.

If yours is off, turn it on from the Window menu or ask again.

    Hi

Right-click the icon for the Crop tool in the options bar and select Reset Tool.

    Jane,

    Thanks for the swift response.

Have tried this and it only allows switching to the 'Slice Tool' and the 'Slice Select Tool'. I'm using a Mac (running Sierra) – not sure if that has any bearing.
