photoshop doesn't do apostrophes

Community Beginner ,

every time I try to type an apostrophe, photoshop doesn't include it. I also can't include any character after my attempt after an apostrophe. It has no problem with any other character. Any thoughts how to fix this? Thank you!

Is it happening with every font, or just one?

I guess I haven't tried other fonts. I'm using charter as a font, which I had to download to include in photoshop.

This has happened to me with one certain font. I don't know why. I wrote to the person I purchased it from, and she said try the OTF instead of the TTF version, but it didn't help. Maybe someone here will know. I'd like to know as well. (-edit-typo)

it looks like it's only this one font that won't do apostrophes. for now I'm just going to grab an apostrophe from a similar font, though it would be nice not to have to do that. it looks like the font I downloaded does include apostrophes in the download file. I've tried messing with the language setting to make sure it's set to English, but that didn't help.

Hi

Two other things to check:

  • Do you see the apostrophe when you open the glyphs panel?
  • Does the apostrophe work in other applications, such as Microsoft Word?

Like Leslie, one time I worked on one document that was missing (in my case) the quotation marks. This was 20 years or so ago, and we simply used another typeface for those quotes.
