Question

Photoshop Eraser Tool erases larger than cursor

I'm Using Photoshop CC.  Here is the version info:  Adobe Photoshop Version: 19.1.1 20180206.r.254 2018/02/06: 1156206  x64  I'm using a PC with Windows 10 Version 1803 OS build 17134.112

I've searched through the forums and all other resources I could find an answer.  I have seen the question raised with no resolution.

When I use the eraser tool, the eraser always erases an area much larger than the cursor.  I have reset all preferences, I have made sure that I am using a normal brush tip.  I have not seen this problem addressed in 2018 so I'm hoping that someone has found a resolution.  Here is a simulation of the problem.  A screenshot does not copy the cursor so I created my own.  Can someone suggest a fix?  It really renders the eraser tool unusable.

Hi,

I have the opposite issue! My eraser tool always erases smaller than cursor whatever I do! I've reset the tool several times but no luck. This bug has appeared with the latest update (19.1.5) I'm on Mac Sierra.

Hi

Not seeing the issue here on Windows 10 1803 Photoshop version 19.1.5, have you tried updating to the latest release

Thank you so much for suggesting a fix.  I upgraded to version 19.1.5 20180604.r.346 2018/06/04: 1175273  x64  (I had assumed that updates were automatic).   Unfortunately, that did not fix the problem.  Thanks again for taking the time to help!

Hi,

As I said in my previous comment, i had a similar issue to yours. but in my case the eraser tool was always erasing smaller than cursor.

I found the solution in this post :

Re: Question: Eraser Tool Problem:  circles are only erasing 1/2 of the circle  (CS6)

I've reset the size of my cursor to "Normal" in the settings of my Mac and everything is ok now.

Hope this can help you as well.
