Photoshop not displaying files to open - MacBook

Community Beginner ,
Jan 09, 2020 Jan 09, 2020

Hi,

I'm trying to open files in Photoshop, but all of a sudden it's not displaying them when I go to File > Open. Previously there would be a list of all folders/files, but now it's only displaying this and none of my folders are showing at all.

Files still open if I'm outside of Photoshop in the Finder view and open that way, but not displaying in Photoshop.

Any help please?

Go to System Preferences under your Apple menu, and then select Security & Privacy. Click the Privacy tab and go to Full Disk Access. Click the lock and enter your password, then add Photoshop.

Hi there,

We are sorry about the experience with Photoshop on your Mac.

Would you mind going to the Help menu in Photoshop, then System info and sharing the first 15 lines with us here? Please update Photoshop to the most current version if you haven't already.

You can also try to reset the preferences of Photoshop using the steps mentioned here: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/photoshop/using/preferences.html

You may want to backup your actions, brushes, etc. before you reset the preferences. Please check: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/photoshop/using/preset-migration.html

Regards,

Nikunj

Are using MacOS Catalina and have not given Photoshop permissions to access the Documents folder?

Another possibility is a bit more complicated. I don't use that myself so I can be sure, but this looks like you are using Apple's iCloud option where documents can be uploaded to the cloud, and deleted from the local machine if there isn't enough space. The result is that the Documents folder that you have selected in the Open dialog does not really exist. It's a kind of link rather than a real folder. You have to make sure that the documents you want to open exist on the local machine (and I would use the 'Pictures' folder for that if I were you).

Hi Johan,

Thank you for your reply.

I have latest MacOS Catalina and latest Photoshop update but didn't realise there are issues between the two at the moment.

How do I allow Photoshop permission to access documents?

Kind regards,
Becky
