Photoshop Visibility Not Toggling

I am having an issue where my PS intermittently (and regularly) doesn't display changes I have made to the image when I toggle the visibility off and on any layer and gets stuck. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, I have gone to older versions of PS, I have made sure I am updated to the most resent version, I have reset my preferences, I have quit and restarted PS, I have restarted my machine, I have purged my cache, I have also moved my scratch disks to my external hard drive which has terabytes of space left and I have cleared space up on my actual hard drive. This is costing me hours of productivity and driving me a bit crazy. If anyone has experienced and fixed this issue please let me know how you managed!

Try going to Preferences > Performance GPU setting s>Advanced and change the drawing mode to Normal. You will need to close and restart Photoshop afterwards.

Hi

What operating system are you using, have you tried updating your GPU drivers, also try enabling this option in preferences and restarting PS to see if it helps

Thank you I have tried checking the Legacy Compositing, but nothing changed. I have updated to the latest Mac OS, but no change there as well.

Just to make sure: One needs to restart Photoshop for that setting to take effect.
