Photoshop won't open - can't change scratch disk

Hi all!

I'm having issues with Photoshop. It won't open - I get an error message saying "could not initialise Photoshop because the scratch disks are full." I have tried to change the scratch disk to my hard drive (which has over 40GB free) by pressing CMD+OPT and choosing it from the drop down menu but it doesn't seem to save the option.

I then click on on the error message and the app stops responding and I have to force quit. If I try to open it again and press CMD+OPT again I can see that the scratch disk hasn't been changed!

I'm at my wits end trying to figure it out. If anyone could help I'd be incredibly grateful!

Here is something to try.

1. Hold down Cmd+Opt+Shift immediately at Photoshop startup and then reset the preferences.

See if that fixes things.

2. Since you are on a Mac try going to Library>Caches and delete all Photoshop cache files.
