Print design help - Digital Tie dye

Wondering if anyone has a good way of blending digital tie dye that maintains it's "tie dye" integrity??

We've been utilzing purchased tie dye art but have to put it into repeat and color separate it to prepare it for production printing. When we try to blend the art to get it into repeat our current process (smudge tool) is rather time consuming and doesn't always turnout with the best end result.
