Hello!
It's kinda strange thing, and I'm not sure how it happens, but recently I noticed when I'm launching Photoshop or Illustrator, the "Z" button on keybord simply stops working. And I have to press like everything around it (fn, windows button, ctrl, shift etc) and press "Z: like 100 times to make it work. When I don't use any programs from CC, it simply works without any problems. Resetting the computer also seems to make it magically work again.
Any idea what is going on? It's exclusive to Adobe products, Rhinoceros, 3d Coat, Keyshot, Irfanview, Paint, and games, all work well.

Can you type the z inside a text container, or is this just when using the shortcut to the zoom tool? Does Ctrl Z work to zoom? Is the Adobe cloud app up and running without error message?
On windows and often something unwanted wanders onto your OS, many are trackers and data miners and for some reason they disrupt Adobe apps in particular. Most keygens especially are trojan horses. If this started after a specific date, do a system restore back to before this started. Otherwise search your recently installed apps and flush the cookies in the privacy tab of most popular browsers.

Nope, it basically stops working everywhere. Ctrl + z does not work (had to do wild xzcshiftctrlalt pressing now to make it work), zoom does not work. Adobe Cloud App is working properly without any error message. Did not installed anything in particullar, it started happening +- after last PS/AI update. But will do some cleaning, maybe it's fault of some sort of a page or anything.

Hi,
To be honest with you i have been having the same problem for the last 3-4 weeks, my shortcuts in Illustrator and Photoshop are executing around 10 times slower than usual. Especially undo Cmd + Z, Cmd + -, and photoshop Step backwards Alt+Cmd+Z
I thought it was just me.

Yup, did it several times to see. Turning up Illustrator or Photoshop, or both at the same time causes Z button to go nuts. Turning them off makes the button work perfectly again.

This sort of thing can happen when another application steals the shortcut. The Fraps screen recorder is one that comes to mind. Having said this, the 'z' key is not an obvious key to be used as an always on hot key, but then again, I only know what I know, and that's not much when it comes to non Adobe apps.
Have a look at your background processes, maybe starting with the Task Bar pop up thingie (The Prem Pro Hardware forum guys would have kittens if they saw how many background processes I have running
) and see if any bells are rung. If not go through one at a time looking for hot keys. It might be nothing to do with your issue, but worth ruling out if you are stuck for ideas.

It's not this. CCleaner is the only additional app I have running, but it was intalled waaaaaay before the problems occured. And no update was done to it. Removed some games from windows TODO (whatever it was, but will see in a long hot if it does help)

I had some Adware.Elex.ShrtCtrl or something like this. Maybe it caused the problems, at the moment I noticed PS is working properly, only Illustrator tend to have it's humours. But all is working, thanks a lot!

Glad that helped.
Make yourself a manual restore point, and in the future if you have problems or system slowdowns is a great safety net to have, as the automatic system restore point never worked for me on windows.
