Question

PSB file became a black background

Soon After I saved my large project my computer crashed.

When I restarted my PC and opnened my project is was suddenly only 1 layer, a black background.

Is there any way to recover a previous version/undo the last save (or to fix the file?)?

I could not find any specific posts about this scenario, I tried some "recover prgrams" which couldnt help me and there was no backup stored in my recovery map.

Is there any hope?

Hi

If you have tried psd/psb repair  apps and they have not worked then you have probably lost the file.

Are you on a Mac that uses Time machine? If so - are you able to recover a version from there?

The autorecover file would open automatically when Photoshop opens if it was available.

I know it is too late in this instance , but on a large important project save incremental versions as you progress (filename001.psb , filename002.psb ....etc)   - then you know you can recover from a crash or from a mistake. You can always delete them later to save space.

Hello Dave,

Thanks for your reply.

I am using Windows 10 so no time machine for me.

I guess I'll just have to take the loss and take a lesson out of it.

Do you know if the creative cloud from Adobe could help as a extra saveguard incase my physical PC dies on me?

So even if it syncs up with a corrupted file does it has a way to roll back/time machine a file?
