Quick select tool problem

Photoshop CC 19.0 release.

The quick select tool is selecting something, it shows on the histogram, but there is no indication on the screen to indicate the selection. Restarted. Tried other images.

Also, I can open an image, select an area which changes the histogram, but I am not prompted to save changes when I close it.

Any ideas?

    I got it.

    In a new doc, the brush size is coming up at 1 px. You won't see the line display correctly below 4 px.
