Resizing Images for Print

Hi there. When I try to resize an image in photoshop and go to print it, it reverts to the old size despite my changing it manually in the print section. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? If I resize my images on my desktop prior to loading them in Photoshop,  it takes forever b/c they are tiff files. I read somewhere I could easily do it in Photoshop, but now I'm having this issue. Any advice would greatly appreciated. Thanks!

8" x 8" at say 300PPI equals a pixel dimension of 2400px x 2400px

If you changed the size in Ps, then you do not have to do anything in the "print section".  How are you resizing...

...on the desktop?  If you have an image that is 8"hx10"w at 300ppi and you want it sized to 5"h x 7"w at 150ppi, use the crop tool at the new size and save the new sized file to a new name, then print the new, renamed, resaved, resized file.

jdanek, your directions refer to doing this procedure in photoshop? I will try that exact procedure. It takes too long to do on my computer lap top b/c i'm low on memory and they are tiff files. Thank you for your response!

What size is it now, and what are you changing it to? How? In telling us what size it is now, please also say inches/mm/cm/pixels/points/whatever.

I have a 10 inch by 10 inch image that I want to resize to 8x8 inches. I'm not concerned about dpi as they are large files and will be big enough to print. If I go to adjust image size in photoshop and change the 10x10 inch image to 8x8 inches and then save it, it still shows up as an 8x8 inch image in the printer panel.

Yes.  Why wouldn't it?  Use Ps to resize.  You could save the new sized files to a flash disk.  But, the procedure should be fast either way.  How much disk space do you have?
