Resizing without restrictions

I've been using Photoshop for years and have never had a problem with resizing an image. I may have a photo that's 2000 x 2200 but want to change it to 1500 x 1800 (not to scale obviously) and knew that if I clicked on the side handles and stretched or moved it I could. If I wanted to maintain the ratio, you can click on the lock/chain to do that. However, even with that deselected, my images are maintaining the aspect ratio. This is a big problem for me. Is there a setting to undo this auto ratio?

Thank you,

Denise

    Hi

What version of Photoshop are you using, if it's CC 2019 the way the transform works has changed you need to hold the shift key while dragging the handles, if that's not your version please provide more info

Your response was actually quite rude "and don't read about the change." No I didn't see the change. But I don't need someone coming along and trying to berate me either.

You really would be better off reading about updated befor you install them.  Don't be the first to install then. See if other think they are good.  Many felt CC 2019 was not good. Also Adobe release many bugs always keep a working older version installed for when Adobe  in case the current version is buggy..

Hold down shift whilst dragging the handles (the behaviour changed in CC2019 - it used to be hold down shift to maintain the aspect ratio)

Thank you Ged, this was perfect. I didn't realize it had changed. I haven't been using it for about 5 months other than to do screenshots. Your answer helped a lot.
