Saving enlarged JPG

Hi from a real NOOB. Having trouble saving enlarged JPG's.

I enlarge original JPG to new size in Photoshop but when I save  it

the saved JPG is exactly the same as the original even though the "properties" shows

an increase in size.

I am trying to enlarge schematic drawings to a larger readable size.

Any help would be appreciated

Save As will merely overwrite the existing JPG. To resize an Image use Image > Image Size and type in the dimensions of the new size. Be careful about enlarging an image too much as it will soften the image. Ensure you use Save As and use a different name for your newly sized image so you keep the original image. I suggest you open a copy of an image and experiment with the various controls in the Image Size dialogue box so you get to know how the various controls work and how the ways they can change an image.

Upsizing images can introduce a lot of unwanted artifacts and grain.  It would be better if you had bigger images or scans to start with.  Downsizing isn't nearly as destructive as upsizing.

File > Export > Export As.  Adjust image height and width as required.  See screenshot.

Downsizing is more destructive then upsizing, but the artifacts are lesser...

The reason for this is very simple: It is easyer to eliminate information (downsizing) then to invent and add information (upsizing). This said, Adobe Photoshop has made great progress for upsizing and I use it now instead of my former procedure (upsizing in bits of about 10% and sharpening in between). On a good picture upsizing works quite exceptional good.

It's true, PS has gotten better.  But upsizing schematic JPG drawings could prove challenging.   We can only hope the picture quality is very good to start with.
