After the last update, Photoshop's text tool has stopped working properly. Most of the time, the text just doesn't appear when something is typed.

The first thing to try is to reset the Type tool. Right-click the Type tool in the options bar (not Tools panel) and click Reset tool.
If that does not work, the second thing to try is to reset Preferences from Preferences > General after backing up any customization.
