TYPE TOOL: Spinning wheel of hell

Hello

I haven't used my Ps since first week of March because I was in a vacation. I came back Friday and opened it on Saturday and since then every time I clicked on Type Tool, the rainbow spinning wheel -of hell, as I call it- will appear and Ps will go unresponsive and I have to use activity monitor to close/quit it because it will stay like that -spinning- for minutes and hours... the laptop still works fine -nothing freezes, or shuts down when the spinning wheel appears, it only affects Ps.

I have a Macbook Pro, updated to the newest Sierra available and my entire Creative Cloud is up to date.

Illustrator and InDesign have no problems with Type Tool/changing the font.

I am a graphic designer and its literally my only source of income.. any help would be greatly appreciated.
