Using Inverse Select to Cut Out a Cirlcle

I just created the perfect circle around my logo!  The tutorial I have been using says to right click to select

... I have a Mac and that is not making the selection. The tutorial then says to go to Select at the top of the

screen and click on Inversion but that is not available as in it is greyed out.

I do have the latest version of Photoshop but most tutorials are for earlier versions. The one I have been using

is dated May, 2014.

I would appreciate any advice! Thanks

    Click the check mark or press Enter or Return (I'm a PC guy, not a Mac guy) to accept the selection.  The option to select > inverse should become available.
