No. I am able to edit my video in Timeline, but I need to add verbal information by recording.

No , you can drop an audio track onto the timeline but you can't directly record

That's what I thought. But thank you for the confirmation.

For the record, Premiere Pro (Adobe's video editing application) does allow direct voice over recording.
