P: Convert to Video Timeline option missing - Apple M1 devices

I am not able to select anything but "Create Frame Animation" in the Timeline. I am trying to create a Video Timeline, but not using Frame animation. This option isn't in the bottom left or top right of the Timeline menu.

I have tried resetting my preferences, uninstalling and re-installing, creating a new document, and converting all layers to smart objects, and none of those have worked. I have a macbook pro with macOS Big Sur version 11.2.3 with an Apple M1 chip.

Thank you for the help!

I was saving the same issue with importing video files and image sequences. I'm using Photoshop on Big Sur with an M1 processor on Macbook Pro. I learned that if I open Photoshop in Rosetta, I can import video and image sequences!

To do this:

Go to Applications > Photoshop > Open the Photoshop Folder> Click the Photoshop Application within the Photoshop folder > Right Click > Get Info > Check the box for Open with Rosetta

Cool, I'll give that a try!
One would think Adobe could address this after it being problematic for 2+
years.

Are you using an Apple computer with the M1 chipset? If so, try running it under Rosetta which should enable the video functions

Hi @default3wxzo68cssb4

I've copied this from the link Dave posted earlier:

"Features not available in the native mode

"Refer to the below list to determine whether to open Photoshop in Native mode or open using Rosetta.

"To learn how to run Photoshop in Rosetta, see About Rosetta.

  • "Import, Export, and playback of embedded video layers"

Hi @Alexandr5C6D

You need to run Photoshop under Rosetta to use video with the M1 chip. Details here:

Hello people, maybe it's an old topic, but I can't find an answer. I use version 22.4.0 photoshop on a MacBook Pro M1.
Today I wanted to open video layer in my layer menu.
The video layer is not visible in the list.
Help needed!
