I'm just thinking outloud.

I want a layer at the bottom only show through at the top within a specific space.  I needs to be the bottom layer of four.

It is an animation.

Is masking useful hear?

Complex weaving  is how I see it.

😮😮😮 that does sound like a challenge... some screenshots could be helpful... hard to imagine what could need to be on the bottom if its only showing up in the top 🤣🤔 🤔

here is a picture.  I want the bright little long shapes to only be seen passing through the middle area, so sort of tucked away behind the other layers when no seen????

Well you know if i am understanding correctly...

for example,

- if you put one of those little long shapes layer on top of the main shape layer, right click the little shape layer and select 'create clipping mask' ... and do the same for each little shape but they all must be on top of the main shape....

- they will then be "sitting inside the main shape" ... and not visible outside of it is this correct? 🤔 🤔

( you can also hold ALT and click between the layers)...
