Dear tech support folks,

Your help is desperately needed! I read many of the technical support questions and answers

for similar problems but none are identical problems. I even took the computer to a repair shop and was told all I have to do is reinstall Photoshop.

I have a Windows Vista personal computer (Gateway) and Adobe Photoshop 7 installed. I've used it for years and have never had a problem.

Photoshop launches but as soon as I open a file it closes. I believe at one point in time it said there was an error

and needed to be connected on line to open a picture file. Then it said "unable to load Photoshop's interface font. (I don't know what that is)

Instead, use a substitute font. The interface may not look optimal. We strongly suggest you reboot the system and launch Photoshop again".

I did reboot but I get the same result. Now I can't even open a file.

I tried again and got a message from Microsoft Windows stating " Photoshop has stopped working. A problem caused the program to

stop working correctly.Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available". I have never been notified of a solution.

I reinstalled the Photoshop program and it still doesn't work. Now, I'm afraid if I get it to work, I will lose some of the great fonts I've collected

and also some of the styles added to it for shadows, beveling, ghosting effects, etc.I have resigned myself to that. I just need Photoshop to work

as I have many projects that have deadlines coming up.

Regards,

Judy

If you are afraid you will loose some of you Photoshop stuff.  Instead of deleting your Photoshop Preferences Rename that folder. If your on Windows make sure you can see hidden files and Folders Microsoft and Apple like to hide thing on their users.

Rename

"C:\Users\Your User ID\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop 7"

to

"C:\Users\Your User ID\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop 7 OLD"

or it may be else where PS7 is very old. it may be something like

rename

"C:\Users\Your User ID\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Photoshop\7.0"

to

"C:\Users\Your User ID\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Photoshop\7.0 old"

If you download the optional Scripting Plugin for Photoshop 7.  You  may be able to download the Font testing script if you feel its a  font problem.  However, that was the first version of Photoshop scripting support.  Scripting has changes some.  The Font Test script may not work with that level of Photoshop scripting.  Photoshop 7 was release in 2002  Adobe Camera Raw was ACR  version 1 an Optional Plug-in for PS7 you had to pay for.

Vista is also not supported by Microsoft if you connect to the web  your open yourself up an Attack invitation

I never use Vista I refused to install it so When Photoshop Preferences are may be some other place.

Judy it time to get a new Machine...... Acer purchased Gateway years ago......
