Wrong pixel to cm value

Hello, since a few weeks i'm experiencing a loss of quality. After i went for a search i discovered that my pixel to cm ratio isn't correct. For an example: if i open a document from 820 pixels it should be 21.96 cm but instead of that it shows 6.94. I've never had this problem before. How can i change this or what am i doing wrong?

Feeling like a noob

The pixel to cm ratio is determined by the ppi. (pixels per inch)

The ppi is for printing only, and does not in any way alter the display of the image on screen – this is determined by the pixel dimensions.

An 820 pixel image will print at 21.96 cm with the ppi set to 72. (820:72 x 2.54 = 21.96. One inch equals 2.54 cm)

If the ppi is set to 300, the print size will be 6.94 cm. (820:300 x 2.54 = 6.94)

Here is how to find Screen Res and set Print PREVIEWING size

In order for the image to be presented on the monitor in such a way that one inch on your monitor corresponds to one inch in the print image, you must first determine your monitor's resolution.

Here is how to do that:

1. Open a new file: 500 px wide by any depth.

2. View it at 100% of size.

3. Use a ruler. Measure the width of the screen image in inches.

4. Divide 500 by the screen image width.

Result: Resolution of the screen in terms of pixels per inch.

Next:

Choose Preferences > Units & Rulers. Set Screen Resolution to that number.

In the future to see an image in such a way that one inch on your monitor corresponds to one inch in the screen image, choose View > Print size
