Can I convert Premier Elements project files from a Window PC to Premier Pro on a Mac?

I am using Premier Elements on a Windows 10 PC. If I get a Macbook Pro using Premier Pro, can I open the PE project files in Premier Pro on a Mac?

Premiere Elements project files should open in Premiere Pro. But because the Mac version of Premiere Elements doesn't include all of the features of the Windows version, you may find some buggy things in the transition.

I recommend making a copy of your Premiere Elements file before you try to open it in Pro -- just in case things corrupt.

But that said it SHOULD work. I've open current versions Premiere Elements projects in Pro on my Windows PC without problems.

As of 2024 Pro does not support .prel files anymore.

EDIT: have to retract that statement: Pro still imports .prel files
