Can't import video have just downloaded free 2024 trial

I have seen this topic in the community and it seems to have to do with Hevc and Heif and H264 and H265. However I can't figure out what to do with Heif and Hevc (I had Hevc app and downloaded Heif) and don't know if my video is h264 or h265. So as far as the free trial, "hey buy our product it is great", is concerned it is a fail so far. just saying....

I had Premier elements 2018 on my old computer and it downloaded the iphone video but the last time I tried with the 2018 version it downloaded the audio but not the video. So I thought the update to 2024 version would solve the iphone video download issues but apparently not. When I try to download the video from my computer (I downloaded them from the iphone 13 to the files on my computer) I get the message that I need Hevc or Heif.

I imagine there are lots of people trying to edit and make movies from the video on their iphone so is Premier Elements just not a program that can do that without lots of computer skill and knowledge (which I don't have)? i.e. not a program for those 'non-techies' ? what is the communities experience?

Exactly what is INSIDE the video you are editing?
Report back with the codec details of your file, use the program below

Hi Thank you for trying to help and responding. I am not editing anything because I can't import.

This video is from the iphone and I have it on the laptop running windows. I think there must be other users that do their video on the iphone and then want an editing program to make videos. So what is it that they do? because Premier Elements does not import this video. I can't ue Premier Elements if I can't import the video.

Trial version does not support HEVC which is only H.265 and Heif (which are stills).

If you cannot import the video you can assume its H.265 (HEVC)

Ann Bens

Thank you for your response. That would explain the problem and I will quit wasting time trying to work with the free version. Do you happen to know if the paid version will support my iphone video i.e. hevc or heif? I had problems with my copy of Premier elements 2018 getting the video to upload to the program so I thought I would try the 2024 version. If the paid version still has issues with upload then no point in wasting money. Thank you for your information.

The paid version does support H.265, but i cannot guarantee it will be a success.

There are a number of users who have been unable to get the codec to work. For some unknown reason.

But if you buy the product directly from Adobe, you have a 30-day money-back guarantee.
