Can't import videos into Premiere Elements 15 from Google Nexus 5x

Hi,

I have an LG Google Nexus 5x mobile phone which takes videos in HD (H264 - MPEG 4 AVC 1920x1090 @ 30FPS) and also 4K (H264 - MPEG 4 AVC 3840x2160 @ 30FPS) videos. I downloaded the files from the phone to my desktop in order to open/import it into premiere elements from there. But it doesn't work. When I try to import any of these files there's always a "general error" popping up in elemens. What's wrong?

Your video has a variable frame rate. Editable video needs to have a constant frame rate.

Here's my solution, using the free download Handbrake.

Play with the camera settings in your Nexus. You should be able to set it to a video recording format that won't require converting. (A higher quality setting for instance.)

One of you has to answer the troubleshooting questions or we won't be able to help either.

Either of those formats should load perfectly into Premiere Elements, torben. I assume you are using Add Media/From Files and Folders and browsing to your video files to import them into a project. Is that correct?

What operating system are you using?

You say you've got these video files on your desktop? That shouldn't make any difference -- but what happens if you move the files to a folder in your Videos library and then try use Add Media/From Files and Folders?

Adding the video to another directory doesn't change the error message with the issue. Importing from the phone while connected gives the same issue as well.

    Hi torbenl,

Thanks for posting in Adobe Forums.

I understand you are facing issue with importing videos from Google Nexus 5x.

Can we follow the following steps:

    - When you connect your phone with your PC you must see few options in your phone in which one of the option will ask your device to be used as a USB Storage Device.

    - After connecting your phone as a USB Device to you PC open Adobe Organizer & import pictures into it.

    - Open the imported video to Adobe Premiere Elements 15 to edit.

    Hope this works

    Thanks

    Regards
