I have recently upgraded from Premier Elements 2021 to 2024. I have for some years completed projects which are videos of our safari holiday – some of which are 90 minutes long. So I always export to a DVD – up until now. To say the least I am very disappointed that the developers have decided to remove this feature from the 2022 version (which I was unaware until my contact on the chat line recently. I was told there was third party software which could provide a DVD copy – but I have searched the web and tried numerous products, but none will recognise a .prel file. So I cannot transfer to a .iso file for a DVD burn. The options for export are now limited (for me) and even a TV export version of .mp4 file will not work on my TV. So I am left with only the computer to view my Safari Projects or I return to my 2021 version – that is certainly progress and a waste of money. So if you can help with my difficulty I would be extremely grateful or any suggestions to remedy would be appreciated.

In 3 party software you do not use the .prel file but rather export to mpeg2-dvd and use that file in the software.
You can ask for your money back within 30 days of purchase from Adobe.

Hi - thanks. However my limited experience on this means I cannot see where I can save this setting. It refuses saying I have to create a custom settings - then I am lost?

Is there some reason you can't continue to use version 2021?

Hi - thanks. No reason other than I have completed a project with the 2024 version and I would have to start again with the 2021 version. I will resort to that but when I try and load the project it says there is an error with the 2021 version so it seems a new start may be required.

Project files are NOT backwards compatible (and sometimes trying to open a project file created in an older version does not work very well)
Export as MP4 and use that file to author a DVD in one of the programs at the links I provided

Many thanks - I am going to stick with 2021.

The various version are not compatible with each other and never have been. Projects started in a version have to stay with that version. DVD creation is getting harder. Most video editing software has moved to higher resolution media. Premiere Elements is not unique in abandoning DVDs.

I only do home video (vacations and such) and sometimes share with a relative (I am also the 'family video guy' who assembles video sent to me to make a DVD to send back) and my relatives are fairly low tech (most don't even know if their TV has a USB port) so ending up with a DVD is my only option
Version 2021.4 (with updates) is what I use and will continue to use... the newer versions look to automate some tasks, but what I have works well for my needs

That sounds very similar to what I do but it is safaris and dogs. 2021 is what I have used successfully but following a crash on a project (probably the media) I was advised to upgrade. Big mistake! Now back to status quo I think. Thanks for your comments.

If you are using VFR (Variable Frame Rate) video you need to convert to CFR
Does your video use a Variable Frame Rate? See https://community.adobe.com/t5/Premiere-Pro/Variable-frame-rate-video-with-Premiere-Pro/td-p/4601935
If yes, use https://handbrake.fr/ open source transcoder/converter to convert to Constant Frame Rate
