Hi, I am using premier pro elements 2025 and i am getting an error message when rendering. I can export okay, no problems on that front. I've been trying to solve the problem for about 2 months now. I've even uninstalled the programme, tried various types of video's but as yet, unsucessful. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Good morning Ann. Many thanks for the reply. Please find the required screenshots attached . The media used is from DJI action hero 4 MP4 video , but i dont think that's the problem as i've used it numerous times before. In fact i've used video formats of various types, from a mobile phone to a drone since purchasing the software without any problems. If you need any other info please ask

Just in case you missed it, my reply to Bill's advice:
Good morning Bill, thank you for replying.
1. I've done that numerous times, no joy, plus uninstalled numerous times
2. The problem is with rendering, not exporting. Cant identify clips as render bar remains yellow.

3. No problems exporting
4. No effects applied
5. no other applications running, 470 gb free disc space
6. Dont use special characters, Drivers updated and creating a new project has the same problems.
Any other advice would be gratefully appreciated

As Ann has suggested, more information is needed. Without that, I thought it would be interesting to try an AI information search. The provided checklist needed editing to match Premiere Elements. The list of things to try seems accurate.
An "Error compiling movie. Unknown error" in Adobe Premiere Elements usually indicates a problem with the rendering or exporting process, often due to issues with media files, effects, or system resources. Troubleshooting steps include restarting the application and computer, checking for problematic media, rendering the timeline, and adjusting export settings.
Here's a more detailed breakdown of potential solutions:
By systematically checking these potential problem areas, you should be able to identify the cause of the "Error compiling movie. Unknown error" and successfully export your project.

Additional info, When rendering, after 3 attemps, its showing 100% then the error message, but it's still not rendered. I get the error message at various %, so there's no definite pattern. That happens with all sizes and formats. I hope this will help.

Is drive H external or internal? If external SSD or HDD?
Please post comp specs. Cannot see which gpu you are using (covered up by dropdown menu)
You need to change your scratch disks. Project is in an auto save folder.
Need to move the project to its main folder not hidden in an auto save folder.
Something like this, or set the paths to custom
H:\video/project name
As soon as you open an auto save file, you need to save it with a new name and store it in the main project folder.
Please make screenshot of media used with MediaInfo and post outcome in TREEVIEW.
Is this phone footage or drone? If so its most likely variable framerate which can cause issues. Need to convert first before bringing it into Elements.
Set render to CUDA if available and make sure you have the most current Nvidia Studio driver installed (download from the Nvidia site, don't use windows.)
Cannot see which gpu you are using.

Good morning Ann, a great big THANK YOU for solving my problem. i'm fairly new to Adobe Premier, thats why i chose Elements and not Pro. Anyway, you solved my problems, which wasn't with file types or settings. When you started talking about folders and hard drives it dawned on me. The problems i've been having are due to the fact my files and folders were spread over 2 external hard drives. Having about 5 projects going, i got lazy and started saving in any folder. Yes, that's me , lazy and stupid. So again, many thanks to you, Bill Sprague and John T Smith for taking time out to help me. Hopefully this will help some other Newbie in the future

A system that has worked for me starts with a new, dedicated folder for each project on the fastest, internal drive I have. Then I start a project with the same name and specify that it will be in that new folder. Next is setting or confirming all the "scratch disk" files are set to "same as project" (in Preferences). Now put copies of the clips you intend to use in that folder. If there is more than a few, make subfolders for each type like 'media', 'music', 'stills', etc.
Because we all have disk space limitations, you can move the entire project folder to an external drive for storage and move it back when you want to work on it.
