Fade in and out

Hello,
In Magix Video deluxe, I am used to using the mouse to fade in and out the video and audio tracks at any point in the clip, which is possible in Premiere Elements using the right mouse button (I searched for a keyboard shortcut but couldn't find one, and I didn't find this function in the keyboard shortcut customisation dialogue either), but only at the beginning (fade in) and at the end (fade out).
I find it essential, especially for the audio track, to be able to lower the volume at any point, e.g. – and above all – at the beginning of spoken text and again at the end.
Is this possible in Elements?

There are a couple of ways to do this but my favorite is to select one or more clips, right click, select Fade and pick from the menu.

But there is no option to reduce the volume of the audio track at a specific point and then increase it again at another point; you can only fade in and out. Please correct me if I have overlooked a more advanced option.

Nope. You can certainly use keyframes on timeline to reduce and increase the volume at specific places and for specific times.

Adding to Steve's comment, you can make keyframing quicker if you assign a shortcut in Edit>Keyboard Customization.

ok, so I was doubly wrong; you can reduce and increase the volume again with keyframes, and there is also a keyboard shortcut. I didn't fin the right command because I was looking for fade in and out.

Is this what your are looking for? Its called ducking audio when using dialog.

If so:

Hold down ctrl and click with your mouse on the yellow line (4x)

Now drag the centre down.

Thanks for the reminder.  At the momemt I was trying to make a screen to share, I must have had a pause in brain waves!
