How to create a square video

Hi, I would like to crate a square video that will fit instagram.

My source is 1920x1080.

I used crop effect, and crated a 1080x1080 randering profle, but then I get my video withing a black frame.

see attched.

any idea of how to do it?

The tools to do what you want have been added in the new 2022 version.   I've never figured out how to do it nor seen anyone be able to do it in previous versions of Premiere Elements.

Just change the numbers to 1080x1080.

Which Elements version is this?

If the project setting is not 1080x1080 you cannot export to 1080x1080 without black bars.

Elements does not have the ability to crop on export.

There is no easy way to create a square project in version 2021. However, as Bill points out, this is a new feature in version 2022.
