How to turn off automatic keying

It seems like every time i try to make a video, I drag a clip or image in with a lot of the same color.(snow for example), and it cuts it out making it flicker black or transparent. it's super annoying and I would love to know how to turn it off.

Looking at your image, I would suggest you first leave out the yellow box and save and export what you have so far. Then, import the exported video back into PRE and then add the yellow box in a layer above your new video.

When you place your yellow box, be sure to place it "on top" both on the timeline and when your drag it to the position you want it and the pop-up asks where you want it--"on top" is what you need to add.

That does not seem normal at all.  Can you provide more about what software, computer, camera, etc you are using?

Sounds like a mis match between the PNG dimensions and the project settings.  How are you setting up the project and what is the goal for displaying the final result?
