I cannot get Adobe Premier Elements 2023 to export my video

 

I have tried many times to get my 2 min 46 sec video (408KB) to export, and at typically around 9 percent, it freezes up while showing 5 seconds left on the clock. And i need to Ctrl Alt Delete to exit. I can’t even get an error message. I’m trying to save at a MP4 format. I have also left it to process overnight several times.

 

Originally, I thought I was making the video wrong, and I have rebuilt the video 3 times from the beginning. I used two Sony A6600 cameras for video, I have added a soundtrack (free Bensound Music) which I have used many times in the past. I have also added 2 template opening title sections, and 2 credits sections. This is a very typical scenario for creating my short videos. I have tried to export using Quick Export and Devices sections.

 

Initially I couldn’t get past the rendering part. I solved that by simply rendering small sections of my video one at a time. I finally got the entire video rendered.

 

I’m using a less than 2-year-old Lenovo Yoga 7 16IAH7 - Type 82UF. I have lots of free space, 283 GB used and 667GB free. Windows 11. I have updated the NVidia, AMD, Intel drivers and everything else updated as needed.

 

I have removed Elements from my computer and reinstalled it. Keeping the default settings. I have searched all over the online place and this seems like a known issue, but there has been no fix that I can find. I did see that if I upgraded to 2025 (per Adobe), it would fix the problem. Thats not a solution.

 

I tried to pop it onto a friend’s computer, (Lenovo also, and Elements 2023) and that failed.

I’m not a tech programing person, so plain English explanation would be great for me.

 

I need to submit this film by Dec 6th. I’ve been trying to get it exported for a month now. I’m the definition of insanity, I keep doing the same process over and over expecting it to get better.

 

I do zero gaming on my computer.

I also tried just exporting a small video only section and that failed. Rendering was no problem.

Cache is cleaned also.

 

I just cannot find a answer to this. Everything dosnt show a resolution that I have found.

The easiest way to set up a project is to pic a primary video file and have it be the first clip on the timeline.  Premier Elements will then set up the project.   The other way is to manually pick the settings at the beginning of a project.

If the clips fail to export on your friends' computer, it means that the clips are corrupt in some way.

Best to convert files before bringing them into Elements and try again.

To avoid re editing, you can use the Replace footage feature.

Hello Ann, This is my problem, I can no longer convert the .prel file into an MP4 file. I've simply remade the video several times thinking something was corrupt. I've use my Sony camera numberous times to create short videos and never had this issue before (original files are shot in 4k MP4).  I transfered the .prel file to my friends computer and she couldn't "export" it. I have tried to do simple plain exports with other video files and it always freezes up.

You cannot convert a .prel file into a mp4 file.

a .prel file is the project file and not a video file.

You open the .prel file with Elements, once the clips are all on the timeline you hit Share which will export the timeline into a videofile.

 

As Bill already mentioned your project settings are incorrect.

Have to start over or follow this tutorial.

Like Ann, I feel that there's something incompatible about the video.

 

That camera shoots in several formats and resolutions. What is the resolution and frame rate of the video you are editing? is it MP4?

Hello Steve, My file format I use on a Sony A6600 is XAVC S 4k. And its mp4.

I should have mentioned. I have also taken some older raw video and tried to "export" it, and it freezes up also. This is raw video which I have used before to create another short video, and it worked flawless.

When you add the clips to the timeline is there a yellow or orange line above the clips along the top of the timeline?

 

If you look under the Edit menu, what is listed on the General page under Project Settings?

The problem might be that your Sony A6600 shoots in 4K at 30fps "progressive" and your project is 1080i "interlaced".   Those won't mix well.   How did you set up the project?

Please excuse my ignorance, what is the best way to set up the "project".  In the Project Setting screen I really dont have any drop down or check mark options to choose from. Display format is my only options.

I make short videos for a film festival, so I am very low budget and even lower tech.  Thank you very much for your answer.
