I am using Adobe Premiere Elements 2022. I shot a timelapse video on my iPad of my digital meat thermometer that I was using to measure my oven temperature to see how well the oven maintained temperature. The iPad took a picture every 30 seconds. My end goal is to make an Excel spreadsheet with times in Column A and temperatures in column B and then make a chart to graphically show the temperature of the oven over time. I noticed that sometimes the temperature did not change for two or more captures but it would be hard to know exactly how many without quantifying the time between captures in the video so I opened the video with Premiere Elements 2022 and used Timestretch to slow it down so the captures occurred about every 2 or 3 seconds. Every time I see the reading change on the temperature probe display I stop the playback and use the "Insert Edit Point" tool on the timeline (see red box on screenshot) to insert an Edit Point. I do this because sometimes the temperature does not change from one iPad capture to the next so if the Edit Points in Premiere Elements end up being twice as far apart as the average, I will know the temperature remains the same for two or more captures. The problem with this is that I have to stop the video so I can click the "Insert Edit Point" tool every time I want to add an Edit Point. If Premiere Elements had a keyboard shortcut for "Insert Edit Point" I could just press that key (or key combination) every time the temperature changed and would not have to stop the playback. But I cannot see that function in any of the documentation I have found on the Internet. So, my question is, is there a keyboard shrotcut for "Insert Edit Point" and if not, is there a way to create one in Premiere Elements 2022?
Thanks,
Don
I did a chat and then a remote control session with Ajay from Adobe support. First we tried a test file he opened and it worked but it didn't work on my file. Then we discovered that an adjustment layer which I had applied in order to crop the video was causing the problem. When we removed it, Ctrl+K worked.

Sorry, I tried Ctrl+K and it dowsn't work. I tried with the video playing and with the video playback stopped. I forgot to say my OS is Wnidows 10.

Maybe I understood it wrongly.
You want to make a cut while the timeline is playing
or do you want to insert a clip while the timeline is playing.

I want to make a cut (the app calls it an Edit Point, which you can do using the little scissors icon on the playback marker) just to divide the video into smaller clips that correspond to the captures from the iPad. The reason is that if I end up with some clips that are double the length of most other clips, I know the temperature stayed the same for TWO iPad captures and therefore will make TWO data points for the same temperature on the temperature probe in Excel. If I have to do this with playback stopped, that is ok because I can just press the space bar to stop and start playback but I am also ok to do it without stopping playback.
Thanks,
Don

That is what ctrl+K does. It adds an edit, a cut.
You can perform this action while timeline is playing.

If you want to insert a clip during playback.
Select clip in Project Assets
Play timeline, then hit , (comma for insert) . (dot for overwrite)

Cannot say, dont have 2021 installed anymore nor do I use Elements.
I was checking the feature in 2023.
But guessing ctrl+k has been around for a long time.

A couple weeks ago, a user couldn't get a keyboard shortcut to work. It worked again when he/she went to the keyboard shortcuts scection, deleted the shortcut and added the same back. Oddly, it then worked.
