Jittery video during preview

I've reviewed the only other forum I could find concerning this issue from back in 2020 and none of the recommended resolutions have any effect. I've upgraded the video driver to the latest driver but no change. This whole issue started this past year, 2023. I've been using Adobe Premiere Elements for quite awhile and I never had problems with the video review until recently. It was working fine one day and the next, bam, it was jittery. At first, I was able to close out of Premiere Elements and reopen it and sometimes it would be fine. Now, it's always jittery when I need to review the video I'm working on. I'm using Adobe Premiere Elements 2021 on a computer with Windows 11 (upgraded to Windows 11 to see if that would resolve the jittery issue but it didn't), Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10700 CPU @ 2.90GHz 2.90 GHz, 32GB of RAM; with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti. I've tried uninstalling, turning the computer off and back on, reinstalled Premiere Elements 2021 without any luck. I even tried installing a previous version of Premiere Elements and the same thing happens. I would like to upgrade to the latest Adobe Elements but that's not going to happen until I can get this resolved. I have Corel Video Studio 2022 and the video review works perfectly. Something is wrong somewhere in Premiere Elements. I prefer using Adobe Premiere Elements but this issue is pushing me further and further away. I've had the computer in for optimizing but that didn't help either. I tried to upload a short video to illustrate what is happening but no matter how small I make the video, this site refuses to upload it.

This reply is to both of you who gave me excellent advice! I really appreciate it! Sorry it has taken a few days to respond but I needed to test the software numerous times over the course of several days to make sure the problem was resolved. I think the solution was the upgraded video driver, even though the first upgrade was for the gaming drivers. After the advice to locate the studio driver, I opened up one of my video projects and it worked perfectly, this was after I had updated the gamin

Are you using the Studio driver or the default Gaming driver?

I recently went out to NVIDIA and installed the latest driver which is a gaming driver but it didn't change anything. What is the Studio driver and where can I find it?

I have a different link... Peru Bob's may be better... you have to SELECT the Studio driver

nVidia Driver Downloads https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
-for all Adobe programs use the STUDIO driver, not the GAMING driver
-To achieve the highest level of reliability, Studio Drivers undergo extensive
-testing against multi-app creator workflows and multiple revisions of the top
-creative applications from Adobe to Autodesk and beyond

The software didn't suddenly change.   Something else did.  It worked fine one day and not the next.

My first guess is that there may have been a change to your audio hardware settings.  Please post a screen shot of Edit > Preferences > Audio Hardware.  Sometimes a routine Windows or other update will change a setting here and the computer begins working on audio previews that bog down the entire preview process.

Would you also post a screen shot of your project?

I still updated the studio driver and it worked great for about a day. I thought I was back at square one when I opened up a video project and it started being jittery again but I remembered about something that was brought up in a forum from a couple years ago. In that forum, the recommendation was to go to the Edit -> Preferences -> Audio Hardware and change the default input to "No Input." After I did that, the video preview has been nice and smooth. I am very thankful for this forum! You have been a wonderful help! Thank you very much!

I haven't been able to figure out what causes the hidden change to the audio hardware setting.  My guess is that it might be a routine Windows update but can't confirm it.  It doesn't happen often, but when a user logs in that their once working well software get balky, changing the audio hardware setting fixes it.   Thanks for the confirmation.
