no smooth preview

In my last edit I noticed that the preview was not running smoothly, it regularly stopped in different places, and I then had to press the play button again. that is not nice to work, the images are MTS (AVCHD)  from a Panasonic AG 90 camera. I have a desktop with i9 9900K processor and 16Gb RAM memory, where on my PC or in which setting of Elements 2023 should I find a solution to this problem?

Is there a yellow, orange or green line along the top of your timeline? Try rendering your timeline by pressing the Enter key and see if it plays more smoothly when this line is green.

Also, click the \ key (above the Enter key) so you can see your entire movie on your timeline. Wait until every clip is populated with a thumbnail. When all the thumbnails are in, play the timeline.

Do either of these things make a difference?

Hello, There is a full green line above the time line and the video clips ate there full Loaded and in my case there is online 3 minutes on the time line, no music, no voice over and the preview stops several times in the 3minutes, Maybe there runs to much prog's on the back ground of my pc, i have an i9 9900k processor and 32 gb ram memory.

There is no reason this should happen that I can see. Some background process must be interrupting things, but I couldn't tell you what.

Ok, I think you're right that some other process outside of premiere elements is causing these glitches. I installed Premiere Elements 2024 and there too the preview falters 4 or 5 times in three minutes. I'm going to have to look for it on the computer itself.

Make sure the intel GPU has the latest driver installed or

Turn off Hardware Acceleration for Intel in the Preferences under General.

Hardware acceleration was "off" already,  install gpu latest driver?  Dont know how to do that.  The last  driver for the Nvidia grafic card is up to date I presume.

I also disabled some programs from starting up in the task manager, but it seems that there is still something going on in the background, I deleted programs that I never or rarely use, such as Adobe Lightroom and malware bites that I recently installed. my processor is an i9 9900K and 32Gb ram DDR4 after i install premiere elements 2024 the problem is stil there with 3 minuts on video material only on  the 1e video track. it stops frequently.

You did not have to remove Malware bytes.

Try this:

change extension from mts to mpg

and/or

convert file to mp4 with Shutter Encoder encoding|converting video FREE PC|Mac

preferences: audiohardware input > none

I removed malware bites because this is the only software I installed on my PC in quite some time, and looked for the cause there, it was a year ago that I did another edit (it has stopped) I use those mts files in premiere elements since version 15 when I still burned Blu-ray discs. That has always gone well (the montages in premiere elements then) I will look into converting the mts files to mpg, but what has changed in elements that it no longer works in version 2023 and now in the new 2024? It's yet another step, and while I edit less or no more, I don't consider that progress. I have now requested assistance from an IT specialist who will come to my home and who will perform a fresh Windows 10 installation, because as previously indicated, my processor is busy with I don't know what and in any case there is something wrong with that.

Ok, I'll throw elements off and reinstall them as administrator, I'll have to see how that works, I've never thought about it, I'm the only user of the PC and I assumed it would always was an administrator installation. For my age, I am already a bit digitally advanced (compared to family, my wife and art circle friends who often ask my help) but I don't really have to go very far now because then  smoke comes out of my ears😊
