Premier Elements 2018

My premier elements 2018 will not play the footage imported. It always has until now. Does anyone have any ideas?

I am getting very fed up with the contiual issues and maybe looking for other software, any suggestions.

How can anyone answer with almost no information?

Mac or Windows and exactly which version?

What IS the video?

What has changed... such as an operating system update?

It can be hard, but to solve issues like this, one has to assume that Premiere Elements is stable enough that all but a few users have no trouble.  If that were not true, Premiere Elements would evaporate from the market.  

Start looking at changes in hardware, operating system and even graphics drives.   Symptoms you describe could come from disk failures or even the disk beginning to fill.  Could there be other programs using or "hogging" memory.  

You are correct, if all else fails, trying other software may work.  Be sure to take advantage of free trials.  Depending on how complex your needs are, the video editors that come with the operating systems can be pretty good!
