My Premiere Elements 2023 stopped working. Whatever I do it insist on trying to open everything with my previous version (2021). Of course that does not work so it seems I lost all my work in progress! I uninstalled and reinstalled, deleted, tried the "Open with" trick... nothing works. It worked up to last night.
I am so dissapointed in the "upgrade to 2023". I lost the thousands of hours I put into Organiser 2021 because of course the new version cannot read the old version, and now this (and of course us private users dont seem to get access to Adobe's tech guys for support...)
Any suggestions on another program I can use?
Regards
Sam

...More info to maybe help in sorting this out... When I reinstall (after uninstalling and meticulously deleting every other scrap of file left), it does not ask me for my product code... Maybe the uninstaller do not really uninstall everything...
Anyway, Premiere Elements 2023 will not even launch, even if go to the actual file. It does allocate about 250Mb in the Task Manager (up from only about 50Mb prior to the reinstall)... Hope this helps...

What is happening to you is so far from normal that it is impossible to guess at solutings.
What operating system and type of computer do you have? How are you opening the program other than clicking on the program's icon?
Normal installation of different versions of Premiere Elements has them operating independently and separately.
Normal installation of Organizer includes reading the previous catalog and updating it.
Software techs don't talk on the phone much anymore. Instead you "chat" with them online. A link to open such a chat is in the Premiere Elements Help menu.

OMG - someone came back!
I have never had anyone coming back on any forum. Hats off to you sir!
Windows 10 Pro... It worked up to last night... closed it, switched off the PC, but this morning.... I dont see any Windows updates or even anti virus updates since...
On the updating... the install messed my PC so much that I actually had to format everything and reinstall Windows - in December 2022.
My Premiere doesnt want to open so I am stranded...
I actually just reinstalled my 2021 (asked for the key and I can get in it..). If I click on help it takes me to the generic website help page that basically says no help exist for Elements users....
Maybe the best for me to do is to ask for a refund on my 2023 and forever be stuck in 2020... a bit sad because in the reinstall I lost everything that I had in the old organiser (it actually came up with a message saying that organiser 2020 is incompatable with 2023 and I had no choice but to click "accept").
The program worked brilliantly up to last night.
Thanks for trying to help though, I appreciate you taking the time, you could easily have just giggled and moved on - thanks, really.

Just a quick note to everyone. The Adobe service desk contacted me and was brilliant. It turned out my computer either was connecting to multiple Adobe servers, or not connecting to them... either way, the way I understand it, it was trying to check my license, and because it was confused, then defaulted back to the only license it knew was safe, which was my old version. I probably got it all wrong, but my point is just that the service people was amazing.

Outstanding! I'm glad you got it fixed. At the user to user level here, it was going to be hard to figure it out!
