I am running Premiere Elements 11 on a networked windows 7 system. The computer is a Dell with and i5 processor, 8 GB RAM and 2x 500 GB hard drives.

I recently had issues caused by Windows concerning my video card. After many attempts, I was able to get a new driver downloaded and installed and was able to complete a fairly large (52 min) video project and burn it to DVD last week. Today I opened Premiere, and selected "new project". Once it was opened I selected "add Media" to begin importing footage from my camera. I immediately got a message that the APP had crashed.

Went through the same steps several times with the same results. Here's the details of the crash message.

Copy the entire contents of the media card from the camera to your hard drive and then import into Premiere Elements.

Sorry, it is an older Cannon DV camera... no card. Has to be captured.

Make a copy of your backup media and try importing that.  The original copy may may have been corrupted.

If that doesn’t work ,try updating or rolling back your graphics driver directly from the video card manufacturer’s site.

The media i trying to get to is not on the computer at all. This is a new project and I was trying to capture the video from a DV camera. I have found that when I go to an existing project and click on "Add Media" the same thing happens. I get the APP CRASH message.

Maybe it is just time to upgrade the software??

You can use these programs for capture:

For DV: WinDV   WinDV

For HDV: HDVSplit   HDVSplit 0.77 beta

Premiere Elements 14 and older do not have the ability to capture DV or HDV.
