"Fade in by line" title animation preset not working

Hi, I'm using Premiere Elements 2020.

I've been trying to get the text to animate using the preset, "Fade in by line", I followed all the instructions on this page: https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-elements/kb/unable-apply-text-animation-presets.html

But it still won't work. Even though it allows me to "apply" the desired preset, it just fades in all at once instead of line by line.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Do you have more than one line of text?

Title animations will only work on text blocks with only one line of text.

Yes, each line of text is in a separate text block - as per the instructions in the support article I referenced.

I know, but sometimes people link to an article and say "I did this" and they didn't do it exactly as shown.

Can you:

1. Start a new title.

2. Type to word "test" and keep the cursor in the text.

3. Select a Title Animation.

4. Click Apply.

5. Click the timeline to exit Title Adjustments and play this title.

What do you see?

Cool cool. I hear you.

Okay, so when I do that, it fades in the line of text, but the effect I'm hoping to achieve is that it would do this for multiple lines, i.e. fade in one line after the other.

Or am I misunderstanding the function of this preset?

Thanks
