Question

"Split Scenes"

Using "Adobe Premiere Elements 12"

source: Sony "HandyCam digital recorder

In the past I have  had no issues downloading from my camcorder to project file except recently the scenes or recorded segments are not being split up on the "Project Assets."

Not sure where to find the "On/Off" button if there is one?

Thanks,

Gil

Re-do tape cassette download to program...."Date and Time" was not on in camera to allow scene detection in the Project Assets.

But what happens if you open it in VLC or another media player rather than in Premiere Elements?

Not clear on operating or what it really is VLC but when opening up the "Elements Organizer in the same Premiere Elements program, all the recorded segments are shown.

So if you open the captured AVI files with VLC or another media player, it plays it continually, through all of your scenes?

Yes, click on the frame  in the "Project Assets" of the first recording and it will play continually the entire shoot on the cassette.

I can't visualize what you mean by "the scenes or recorded segments are not being split up on the "Project Assets.".  Perhaps you could post some screenshots?

    Thank you for your response.

When you download to your editing project from i-phone or camcorder after you shot a birthday party the number of times you start and stop your record button on the camera they will show up on "Project Assets" separately.

Usually you will see the first frame of each shot.

What's been happening of late all that shows is the first frame of the entire shoot [thirty minutes] no separate video segments.

When you describe the camcorder as a  Handycam digital, do you mean that is is a miniDV tape-based camcorder and that you captured the video using Premiere Elements over a FireWire connection?

If so, in your capture settings did you have the option to break scenes selected?
