Re: Premiere gets wrong audio from video clips

Similar problem on my end. I am running Adobe Premiere Elements 15 (version 15.0), which I purchased in early 2017, on an Mac with OS 10.12.6. Have made a number of videos successfully in the past 22 months, edited from footage originally shot on analog camcorder, transferred to DVD, then imported raw onto the Mac as .vob files.

Early this year I began to notice the aforementioned issue; video content is from the clip I want; audio is from a completely different clip. Sometimes it appeared to be resolved by going to "Preferences" and cleaning the media cache database, exiting, and re-starting. But more recently this problem has been happening with increasing frequency and cleaning the cache is not an effective solution. Recently, I started a new project and added data in the form of one of these .vob files. Again, video content is from the clip I want; audio is from a completely different clip. Have tried numerous times to clear cache; have started entire project over from scratch; nothing seems to work. Hope there is some sort of update that will remedy this glitch. I'll be unhappy if I need to move on to another software after only a year and a half of good use out of this Adobe product.

The .vob files were part of an array of files in a folder that was automatically created when I copied home-made DVDs of my home videos onto my Mac. I had created the DVDs by using a Sony DVD recorder and hooking it up to our old analog camcorder, one tape at a time. It's hard for me to suspect that the Sony recorder created flawed or corrupted documents, because of the numerous files I've imported into Premiere Elements [I had around 95 two-hour analog videotapes to begin with], it's only more recently that the problem has increased, apparently without regard to which of the many files was used. I'll work on getting a sample .vob file for you to inspect.

I can't guarantee that your means of getting video files from your DVDs is going to work, since there are a couple of variables involved.

The best way to get analog onto your computer for editing is to use a simple digitizer. This is one I've been using and it's excellent!

How are you creating a VOB from your analog files?

It could be that the software or hardware you're using is creating problematic video files.

It might also be helpful if you'd post an example of a VOB that's having this problem to a public sharing site like Dropbox or Mediafire.com so we can download it and see if we get the same results.
