Question

Recommend a camera for live capture?

I understand that Premiere Elements 2020 does *not* support firewire interface any longer.

I had wanted to use my old Sony HDR-HC5 (1080i) as a live camera to capture to Elements.  (I used to be able to do this with Elements 7)

I wanted to avoid using USB/Webcams because of the audio/video out of sync issues caused by Variable Frame Rate issues that those cameras can create.

I understand that Elements 2020 can "fix" the VFR problems ... but ..

Can anyone recommend a camera to be used with Elements for a live capture?

(I suppose it *has* to be USB interface .. )

Thanks!  🙂

I've never known Premiere Elements as capable of streaming live video (aside from recording from webcam).

Which version has this capability?

Version 7 will do it.  I was just checking my video camera with Version 7 this AM and .. yep .. it still works.  Version 14 is a "no" as well as "2020".

I've got a feeling it was a feature that didn't survive the program's transition to 64-bit.
